I received a phone call from Forno Bravo in California letting me know that our oven has been shipped today. Shipping time to Virginia is 6 to 9 days. They will send me the transportation tracking information on Monday.
The oven has been cured, crated and shipped. Won’t be long now.
I’ve been studying the receiving and set up instructions for a while now. I plan to use an off-road forklift with 72″ forks to offload the oven from the transportation truck. After inspecting the shock sensor, I will open the crate and inspect for visible damage. Then I will sign for the oven and the fun begins.
I plan to use the forklift to pick up the oven and set it on the stand we made. I will use the 4 ten pound bags of ice method so I can set the oven on the ice, back out the forks, and let the ice melt and the oven settle. Sounds pretty simple but I’m sure it will be a very tense period of time.
We plan to document the entire process so others can see in detail how we did it. There is not much info on getting the ovens off the truck and on to the stand so hopefully we can help others.
More to follow!
