After a beautiful weekend camping at the beach we spent the week building the counters on each side of the oven. It took us the entire week due to the amount of rain we got. We used metal 2×4’s with cement board for the base. The metal track was secured to the cement foundation by cement nails and secured to the oven base by cement screws. Once the cement board was placed on the sides and top it made a very sturdy counter. We completely finished the right side counter (which was more difficult because it didn’t have an end building to attach to. Extra bracing was applied at each corner to give it more structure). Now we only have to add the cement board to the left side and we’ll be ready to stucco finish the entire base.
